CO2 Algae Transformation

Description

Processes that feed carbon dioxide (CO2) to algae for separation and/or storage. The algae grow mainly on sunlight, water and carbon dioxide. Mature algae can be burned directly, pressed out for biodiesel production (see "Algae based biofuel") or simply disposed in landfills. If the algae is used as fuel or feedstock the stored carbon dioxide is will be emitted, lowering the overall saved carbon emissions. It can, however, displace fossil fuels which is why the projects may be eligible for carbon credits.
