Global Power and Water Industries is forming a joint venture with Guangdong Meiyan Hydropower to develop concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) and energy storage projects in China. The venture, called Guangdong Global Power and Water Industries, plans to build a 500MW CPV power plant in Guangdong province’s MeiXian County. The project remains subject to regulatory approval and feasibility studies.
“Guangdong Hydropower owns and operates eight hydropower facilities in China and they are a key strategic partner, properly positioned politically and financially in the power industry of China,” says Global Power chairman, Howard Foote. “They bring us the experience and expertise we need to successfully build and operate this, our initial facility."
Last month, California-based Amonix raised USD40m in funding from undisclosed investors. The firm develops CPV systems for utility-scale application.
