Organic solar developer Eight19 seeking USD8m

Thu Feb 2 2012, 09:44 AM

Eight19 is raising GBP5m (USD7.9m) through a Series B funding round, half the amount it was reported to be seeking last year. The UK-based firm produces organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells using a roll-to-roll printing process and recently launched its IndiGo pay-as-you-go solar system. Eight19 - so called because it takes light eight minutes and 19 seconds to travel from the sun to the earth – plans to use the proceeds from the funding to support manufacturing expansion and the roll-out of the IndiGo system.
