Mumbai-based Welspun Group plans to develop 500MW of solar power capacity in India by 2014, according to The Economic Times. The firm estimates solar power to reach grid parity in the country by 2015, and says the technology can provide electricity to communities without access to the national grid. Welspun claims to have a current installed solar energy capacity of 30MW, with a further 80MW under development. Under its solar mission, India plans to boost its installed solar energy capacity to 20GW by 2022.
