EDF buys German biomass pellet plant

The trading arm of French energy firm EDF is paying an undisclosed sum to acquire its first biomass pellet manufacturing plant in Europe. The facility, located in Germany, close to the Polish border, has a production capacity of 120,000 tonnes per year. EDF plans to use the pellets in its own biomass power operations, as well as supplying third parties.
