Landis+Gyr buys data management firm Ecologic

Swiss smart meter maker Landis+Gyr is paying undisclosed amount to acquire Minnesota-based Ecologic Analytics. The firm provides meter data management systems (MDMS) which interpret and analyse data from smart electric, gas and water meters. MDMS’ are required by all smart grids, and Ecologic claims to have the most widely deployed system in North America. Clients include Pacific Gas and Electric, Oncor, Puget Sound Energy and Austin Energy. Last year, Japanese electronics firm Toshiba bought Landis+Gyr in a USD2.3bn deal.
