MicroPower Technologies has raised USD6.5m in the first tranche of an equity funding round. Investors include the venture capital arm of Motorola Solutions. Founded in 2008, the Californian firm is developing what it claims is the world’s most power efficient wireless video camera technology. The system, which is targeted at the surveillance market, eliminates the need for wires for power and data, enabling them to be deployed in almost any location. MicroPower’s cameras have integrated solar cells to cut power consumption by up to 90%.
