BP is shuttering its solar power unit citing the current surplus of solar panels in the market, which have driven prices down to unsustainable levels. The firm, which has operated its solar unit for more than 40 years, told the Financial Times that it can no longer make money from solar now that it is not a specialist business. The UK oil firm will continue to operate its biofuel and wind power units.
