NanoH2O has raised USD14.9m in equity funding from undisclosed sources, and plans to add a further USD15.7m before the close of the round, according to aregulatory filing. The Californian firm develops reverse osmosis membranes for use in water treatment applications, and claims its technology can increase water production by up to 70% in new desalination plants and 20% in existing facilities. NanoH2O also says its membranes need less pressure to produce the same amount of water, which slashes energy usage at plants by up to 20%. In 2008, NanoH2O raised USD15m in equity funding from investors including Khosla Ventures and Oak Investment Partners.
