German and US carmakers BMW and General Motors (GM) plan to work together to accelerate the development of fuel cell technology. GM has invested around USD1.6bn in fuel cell technology to date, and a potential deal would give BMW access to it in return for research funding, according to German business magazine Wirtschaftswoche. The partnership is expected to be formally announced following the Detroit motor show in January.
