Valeo buys supercharger technology to cut vehicle fuel consumption

Car component maker Valeo is paying an undisclosed sum to acquire UK-based Controlled Power Technologies’ (CPT) variable torque enhancement system (VTES) business. The unit will enable the French firm to supply electric superchargers, which it says will enable carmakers to reduce engine size and cut fuel consumption by 20% when combined with its energy recovery system. VTES will be integrated into Valeo’s powertrain systems business group.
