Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) is teaming up with oil and gas firm Shell to develop a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at its gas-fired power plant in Aberdeenshire. The project, located in Peterhead, aims to develop a post-combustion CCS facility which will be capable of capturing carbon dioxide from one 385MW capacity gas turbine unit at the plant. The captured carbon dioxide will be transported to Shell's Goldeneye gas field in the North Sea.
