SSE building USD400m biomass CHP plant

Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has secured approval to build a biomass and waste-powered plant in West Yorkshire. The facility will have a 108MW capacity is to be located at the site of the energy firm's coal-fired power plant in Ferrybridge. SSE is investing GBP250m (USD400.8m) in the combined heat and power (CHP) project, which will be fuelled by biomass, waste-derived fuels and waste wood. Construction is slated to begin next October, with completion expected in 2015.
