Masdar, RTI and US DoE in USD3.7m carbon capture project

Masdar, RTI International and the US Department of Energy (DoE) are teaming up on a USD3.7m carbon capture research project. The project will examine the use of solid sorbent technology for capturing carbon dioxide emissions from coal and gas-fired power stations, and aims to find a “significant” cost reduction when compared to today’s technologies. The DoE is contributing USD3m to the project’s budget, with Abu Dhabi’s Masdar providing the remainder.
