Beacon Power has secured a USD5m grant from Pennsylvania state to support the construction of a flywheel energy storage plant. The project, located in Hazle Township, will have the capacity to store 20MW of electricity and will cost a total of USD53m. Beacon has already received a USD24m grant from the US Department of Energy to help fund the facility.
