Hydro Phi Technologies has raised USD2.9m in equity funding from undisclosed investors, according to a regulatory filing. The Georgia-based firm is developing hydrogen production technology which aims to boost the efficiency of vehicle engines. Hydro Phi’s electrolysis unit combines with a vehicle’s on-board computer to create a hydrogen fuel map, which it says enables the unit to produce hydrogen at just the right time (based on the engine’s efficiency) and injects just enough to use up all of the fuel. The firm claims this can increase the efficiency of the engine by up to 30%.
