General Electric (GE) plans to boost its presence in the solar energy market by supplying thin-film photovoltaic (PV) panels from next year. The firm is working with PrimeStar Solar to accelerate the development of cadmium telluride-based (CdTe) thin-film solar cells. GE became a majority shareholder in the firm in 2008, and PrimeStar aims to begin producing panels at its 30MW Colorado manufacturing facility next year.
