Massachusetts-based Beacon Power has secured USD2m in funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to support the development of its flywheel energy storage plant in the state. The money will be channelled into the grid infrastructure elements of the project, such as interconnection components, as well as a visitor information centre. The 20MW facility will be located in Stephentown.
