Irish firm Mainstream Renewable Power is signing a USD1bn deal with Chilean firm Andes Energy to develop wind farms in the South American country with a combined capacity of 400MW. Mainstream is the latest venture from Airtricity founder Eddie O’Connor, who sold Airtricity to Scottish & Southern Energy for USD2.2bn in January. Mainstream will retain 90% of the joint venture, with Andes Energy taking a 10% stake.
