Analyst Bookmark: 100% renewable energy by 2090

Renewables could provide for all of the world’s energy needs by 2090, according to study from the European Renewable Energy Council and Greenpeace. The report says technologies such as wind, solar, geothermal and biomass – along with drastic improvements in energy efficiency – could end the world’s dependence on conventional fossil fuels and nuclear. However, critics say the report’s belief that expanding economies can reduce energy use is unrealistic.
